SCHOLARSHIP TIPS Know the deadlines (TTU deadline for incoming Freshmen December 1) Apply for anything and everything! Research your major for potential opportunities. Check websites of major companies (Walmart, Coca-Cola, etc.) for scholarship opportunities. Check out local organizations (AMBUCS, Lion’s Club, churches, parent employers, etc). Utilize resources such as your high school counselor, the Internet, and social media.

DEPENDENT OR INDEPENDENT Until age 24, a student is considered dependent unless: Born before January 1, 1994 Married Working on a master’s or doctorate program Active duty in the US armed forces (other than training) Veteran Have children you support more than half their support Since age 13, both parents are deceased, student was in foster care, or dependent or ward of the court Emancipated minor or in legal guardianship Unaccompanied youth or homeless (lacking fixed or regular housing; living in shelters, parks, motels, hotels, cars, or temporarily living with someone else because you have nowhere else to go)

STUDENT AID REPORT Once the FAFSA is submitted and processed by the Central Processer you will receive an email with a link to your student’s Student Aid Report (SAR).

FINANCIAL ELIGIBILITY Expected family contribution (EFC) Cost of Attendance less EFC=Financial Need $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ EFC is used by financial aid offices to determine grant eligibility, type of scholarship, and subsidized or unsubsidized student loans.
