Conservation and Me: a memoir Saving Water Conservation and Me: a memoir

Why do I want to save water? The land lord for the property that my work is at, during the summer, will water the same patch of grass all day long. I asked my manager for the phone number of the land lord so I could make him aware, and she laughed at me. This made me realized that nobody takes saving water seriously. I decided to do whatever I could to do my part to save water.

I only water the lawn 3 times a week and only for 20 minutes. http://www.gardeningsite.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/typical-lawn-sprinkler.jpg

I turn off the water when I’m brushing my teeth. http://amyapplebaum.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/washing-basin_300.jpg

I water my lawn after the sun goes down. http://us.cdn1.123rf.com/168nwm/nikkytok/nikkytok1102/nikkytok110200151/8939743-lawn-sprinkler-spraying-water-over-green-grass-at-night.jpg

I only shower for 10-15 minutes. http://images.medicinenet.com/images/slideshow/urinary-tract-infections-s23-photo-of-woman-showering.jpg

I bought water efficient appliances. http://www.lg.com/ie/home-appliances/images/lg-dishwasher-D1454TF-front-large.png

I fixed the leak in my bathtub. http://www.charlesandhudson.com/archives/leaky-bathroom-faucet.jpg

I cut my grass longer so water won’t evaporate out of the ground as fast. http://www.dannylipford.com/images/article/ask-julie-what-proper-mowing-height-grass-1.jpg

When it rains I collect the water from my down spout in a barrel and I water my plants with it. http://ftrctlb.com/sites/default/files/rainwater-harvesting.jpg?1312019654

I used moisture control potting soil for all my plants I used moisture control potting soil for all my plants. They don’t need as much water. http://www.esbenshades.com/onlineshopping/pics/032247407830ws.jpg

I tell my friends and family to do the same. http://www.thenae.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/group-of-people-talking1.jpg

Have I made a difference? First and foremost, my water bill is much lower since making these changes. I have influenced others to make small changes as well. I have a new sense of pride knowing that I am helping make a difference.
