GCSE Maths and English from 2015 Grades 9 - 1

Curriculum changes These changes are designed to help students emerge from GCSE Maths and GCSE English with a level of confidence and fluency that will provide a genuine foundation for the rest of their learning and working lives.

New GCSE Grades Higher Tier Grades 4 – 9 Foundation Tier Grades 1 - 5

GCSE English There will now be no coursework The new texts studied are: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde A Christmas Carol Macbeth Blood Brothers An Inspector Calls

GCSE Maths Volume of subject content has increased Demand is increasing too with harder topics Total time for exams is increasing from 3½ hours to 4½ hours A new grading structure from Grade 9 to 1 Greater emphasis on problem solving and mathematical reasoning Students will be required to memorise more formulae
