Elementary School Primary School From 6 to 11 years old It lasts five years One main teacher with the new reform But there is a teacher for religious studies and in case a language teacher Pupils get the elementary school leaving certificate it allows them to open the way to the middle school. From 6 to 11 years old It is compulsory

The Middle school From 11 to 14 years old It is compulsory It lasts three years A teacher for each subject At the end of the 3rd year they have to pass an exam They obtain a diploma of Scuola Media and so the right to continue their education. From 11 to 14 years old It is compulsory

It is a compulsory school until 16 years old Secondary School It is attended from 13-14 to 18-19 There are different secondary schools: Licei, Tecnici, Professionali according the subjects taught At the end they have to pass a State Exam with a mixed commission ( the teachers of the class and that from other schools) The final mark is the sum of credits acquired and the result of the tests All the subjects are compulsory but each school has 20% of autonomy on the school curriculum. It is a compulsory school until 16 years old

Musical and performing arts, Scientific Secondary School (Tecnico)Technical 2 areas Economic an Technologic 11 courses : Industrial Commercial Tourism Design And others (Liceo): Senior High school 6 couses Artistic Classical Linguistic Musical and performing arts, Scientific Human science (Professionale) Vocational 2 areas 6 courses Technical Industrial Tourism Commercial and others All These diplomas allow to enrol at University or Superior Technical Education (IFTS)
