Mini Global Demonstration Integrating information towards Digital ATM Mini Global Demonstration Presented By: Thien Ngo Date: August 28, 2013

Demonstration Overview Mini Global will demonstrate the applicability of the global exchange models for Flight, Aeronautical and Weather information using the FIXM, AIXM, and WXXM standards. The demonstration intends to show how the FAA, International ANSPs and flight operators, in both the Pacific and Atlantic regions, are able to share common information to: Improve collaborative decision making (CDM) Improve air traffic management (ATM) Promote international harmonization 1

Demonstration Objectives Demonstrate the exchange and applicability of global exchange models to a broader international community Utilize FIXM, AIXM, and WXXM standards Evaluate how these standards will address multiple disparate international systems Different levels of maturity Different levels of data model fidelity Recommend updates to FIXM, AIXM, and WXXM standards Identify and convey possible benefits that can be achieved with the global harmonization of data exchange Support validation of ICAO Flight and Flow-Information for a Collaborative Environment (FF-ICE) 2

Demonstration Approach Define/identify collaboration goals with international partners: Collaborate to develop Use Case / Scenarios (i.e. international boundary coordination) Identify additional data elements in FIXM (if necessary) Agree on integration architecture Establish requirements for connectivity / services / data to support demonstration Address GUFI considerations Establish connectivity to Mini Global Enterprise Messaging Service Conduct Test and Evaluate Perform Demonstration 3

Mini Global Enterprise Messaging Service The Mini Global Enterprise Message Service Providers will provide the following services: Governance: Policy management and enforcement Metrics and performance Validation of FIXM messages Security: Authorize, Authenticate Routing: Support request/response, publish/subscribe message exchange patterns Content, Rules and Policy based routing Transformation of native data to support exchange models (MG Adapter) Utilize standard protocols between MG Service Providers Access to Global GUFI service 6

13 Mini Global major objectives include: Mini Global will demonstrate the applicability of the global exchange models for Flight, Aeronautical and Weather information using the FIXM, AIXM, and WXXM standards. With Mini Global, the aim is to increase global predictability by addressing seamless operations, integration of systems, and effective cross border operations. The demonstration intends to show how the FAA, International ANSPs and flight operators can share common information to improve collaborative decision making, improve air traffic management and promote international harmonization. Mini Global major objectives include:     Demonstrate the applicability of global exchange models to a broader international community in all regions Evaluate how exchange models will address multiple international systems   Recommend updates to the FIXM Standard Support validation of ICAO Flight and Flow - Information for a Collaboration Environment (FF-ICE) Mini Global allows partners to assess the compatibility of their ATM systems with respect to global exchange models (FIXM / WXXM / AIXM), and identify services / products meaningful to their current and future operations. Mini Global also provides the foundation for development of new operational capabilities & procedures utilizing international data exchange.   The Mini Global Enterprise Messaging Service will be established in September 2013 by multiple service providers for their respective regions. Partners can integrate with the service providers in order to participate in the Mini Global demonstrations. Service Levels for participation are defined in the Mini Global Integration Checklist. Request this checklist via email to thien.ngo@faa.gov. Partners will participate by providing information for data exchange via the Mini Global infrastructure, and: Develop Use Case / Scenarios for Mini Global demonstrations (i.e. Border Coordination) Identify additional data elements (if necessary) Establish connectivity to the Mini Global infrastructure Participate in the Mini Global Risk Mitigation (Feb 2014) and/or Final Demonstration (Sept 2014) Provide feedback on Mini Global demonstrations (lessons learned, recommendations, etc.) 13
