Case Practice Model The guiding principles and expectations of the Department of Children and Families. Defines a strengths-based and family-centered model of practice. Goal: to achieve safety, permanency, and well-being for children.

DCF Primary Outcomes and Core Values Safety – Children are first and foremost protected from abuse and neglect Permanency – Children do best in a permanent and stable family living situation Well-Being – We will identify children’s needs and will promote their development, education, and health

Guiding Principles All efforts toward Safety, Permanency and Well Being are grounded in: Family strengths and connections Respect for culture and community Non-discrimination in services Appropriate and time-limited placements Family team participation

How DCF Works… Quality investigation and assessment Engaging youth and families Working with family teams Individualized planning and relevant services Continuous review and adaptation Safe and sustained transition from DCF involvement
