Suggest reasons why the dried potato slice was unsuccessful. Analysis: Determine the heat gained by the water in Joules – see formula Conclusion: Suggest reasons why the dried potato slice was unsuccessful. Predict what you think the water energy would have been compared to the potato crisp, if the dried potato would have caught fire. How could you show that the water only gained energy from the burning food and not the surroundings? Why does it matter that we know how much heat is gained by the water in Joules by burning a potato chip?
