Security and Backup Besides standard Linux system security setup and wiki username/password protection, no extra security setup Contents and setup files are fully backed up every month. Every day and every Sunday, full backup are made as well, but overwritten the previous one.

Problems Found and Solved System power down 3-4 times a year. System was upgraded a couple times a year. Each upgrade caused Perl libraries erased, which requires a reinstall. Some pages have links pointing to old NOAA server. They need to be fixed one by one (Please report any additional problems whenever they were found) New functions required new plugin apps. Home page is /gsicswiki.net/wiki, not /gsicswiki.net

When wiki is migrated from one system to another, the inside link addresses and file locations are not changed. Instead, the system is configures as “whenever see the old address, use the new address instead” (see the black path in fig). The home page is https://gsics.nesdis.noaa.gov/wiki on the old server. If we set gsicswiki.net as home, the system actually will assume that http://gsicswiki.net is at the location :gsics.nesdis.noaa.gov/wiki. Then requests to http://gsicswiki.net/filepath will be searched at gsics.nesdis.noaa.gov/www/filepath http://gsicswiki.net/filepath replace gsicswiki.net with gsics.nesdis.noaa.gov gsics.nesids.noaa.gov/filepath gsics.nesdis.noaa.gov/filepath Gsics.nesdis.noaa.gov/www/filepath
