Several international manufacturers responded and agreed to transfer technology to approved local partners 6

The Government demanded that they supply current technology and did not accept obsolete vehicle designs 7

All tooling and other equipment had to be bought new: this ensured high quality 8

In parallel, the Government ensured that a component supply industry was developed 9

Today Turkey has the largest automotive industry in the region and is the largest builder of buses and coaches in Europe 10

Last year the value of bus and coach exports from Turkey was USD1,154,329,981 11
