Origins Began in India sometime around 1500 BC Developed out of Brahmanism Sacrificial religion dominated by Brahman priests No known “founder” Third largest religion

Beliefs Brahman-the one god This god can take many forms Brahma-the creator Vishnu-the preserver Shiva-the destroyer

Beliefs continued Reincarnation-cycle of death and rebirth Karma-good actions will merit good rewards in the next life The goal of Hinduism is Moksha Becoming one with Brahma, release from the cycle of reincarnation Believe the cow represents all living creatures and is considered sacred
