George Gordon, Lord Byron 1788 - 1824 Symbol of the “Romantic Spirit” and “Byronic Hero” Described as “Mad, bad, and dangerous to know.” Born with a clubfoot that caused him physical pain, but he was extremely popular with the ladies. Author of Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage and Don Juan. Died participating in the Greek War for independence.

Byronic Hero A hypersensitive rebel that is isolated from society as a wanderer or in exile of some kind. This social separation can be imposed by an external force or self-imposed. The Byronic Hero has emotional and intellectual capacities that are superior to the average man, which causes him to be arrogant, abnormally sensitive, and very conscious of himself.

The Byronic Hero is characterized as having a dark, handsome appearance. He is brilliant but cynical and self-destructive. Heath Ledger (1979 – 2008) Australian television and film actor. Jim Morrison (1943 – 1971) Lead singer and lyricist for American band The Doors
