Aim: How should Nazi war criminals be judged? Do Now: copy notes into your notebooks

Nuremberg Trials ( 1946 – 1948) A: Purpose 1 – to judge the actions of Nazi officials & determine whether they had committed “crimes against humanity” (large scale murders ordered by the government) 2- Specific charges against Nazi officials was their active role in carrying out the Holocaust, which killed millions of innocent people in concentration camps B: Participants 1 – representatives of the Allied governments ( U.S., England & the Soviet Union) acted as judges in these trials.
