Hebrews 12:5-11 5And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son?

Hebrews 12:5-11 It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4) Discipline (paideia) refers to the systematic training of sons and daughters in order to bring them to maturity.
