Assembly District Election Meeting Training November 2016

State Party Delegate Elections held in all 80 Assembly Districts Saturday January 7 or Sunday 8, 2017 14 delegates per Assembly District are elected (7 women / 7men)

The ADEM takes place every two years JANUARY 2017 The Assembly District Election Meetings take place Bi-Annually Saturday 7 Sunday 8

Election should begin no earlier than 10 AM nor later than 3 PM Meetings must be over 2 hours long, because registration must be open for at least 2 hours Meetings should avoid conflicts with weekly religious observances (Jewish Sabbath, Sunday Morning Church, etc.) Meetings take place Bi-Annually Election should begins no earlier than 10 AM nor later than 3 PM Meetings must be over 2 hours long, because registration must be open for at least 2 hours Meetings should avoid conflicts with weekly religious observances ( Jewish Sabbath, Sunday Morning Church, etc.)

Candidate Eligibility?

I registered Democrat to VOTE in MY AD by October 24, 2016 Delegate Candidate must have registered as Democrat in the AD by October 24, 2016 Completed the online application by the December 8, 2016 Submitted name and statement Eligibility is verified by CDP I registered Democrat to VOTE in MY AD by October 24, 2016

Eligible candidates will be posted weekly online beginning November 30, 2016. They will be updated once a week Candidates are allowed a statement of 1500 characters (including spaces). Which is about 500 words. No edits are allowed once submitted Final posting of Day, Time, and Locations of the Meetings will be no later than December 15, 2016.

Why are you here?

Responsibility for “Convening” the meeting goes to a Democrat selected by the Regional Director All selected conveners must pledge to NOT seek a DSCC seat or E-Board position from the ADEM they are convening CDP must have all designated conveners by September 15, 2016

Notice should be sent to all Registered Democrats in the District Notice must be posted by December 2, 2016 Notice includes Date, Time, Location and Purpose of the Meeting. It also should have Rules for the Election, and filing deadline for candidates

Who may participate? A Democrat residing in and registered to vote in the AD as of the date of the ADEM. Same day registration is allowed. Pays the $5 fee to defray the cost of the ADEMs Must sign the ADEM registration sign-in sheet, Accepts having their hand stamped prior to receiving a ballot (to prevent double voting).

What’s the $5 for? ADEM elections, statewide Voting materials, printing of ballots,locations, UPS/ USPS deliveries, insurance certificates, conference calls, trainings, etc Paper Products, whiteboards chalkboards, writing tools, stopwatch, ballot boxes, gavels, laptops, and location costs With 80 Assembly Districts in the state the small donation is critical to being able to conduct these elections

Running the Meeting Registration needs to be open at least 2 hour prior to election. Notice should include when doors open After Registration is closed only participants who have signed in or are standing in line are considered in on time

Executive Board Besides Electing ADEM Delegates, E-Board representatives are voted on at this meeting E-Board candidates do not have to file in advance E- Board candidates have either been elected as one of 14 ADEM delegates, or be a State or Federal elected official, nominee appointed delegate

Report

Day Of - Election Items to be Reported to CDP Affidavit of voting results including the names the of newly elected Delegates (2 male and 2 female runner- ups) Newly elected E-Board representative (1 Executive Board runner-up)

Report Items that need to be sent to the CDP within 3 days after the meeting ADEM sign-in registration sheet Election Results (all ballots, affidavit, tally sheet, volunteer lists, and any other election materials) Donations collected Additional documents
