Every summer they kept them out in the fresh air, but in the winter the farmers kept them in the shed. Dairy farmers make silage pits instead of bails of hay. Farmers put out fertilizer at the end of spring. They have to wait two months for the grass to grow. Farmers from years ago would not have as much machinery as they have nowadays. Although farmers understood how much time a tractor could save them and what work it could do for a very long time, a tractor was too expensive for a farmer to purchase.
