Learning Objective To know what prayer is What is prayer? Why do we pray? What words are used in prayers?

To investigate Christian Aid Week Prayers Watching the film ‘A Prayer for Bangladesh’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1QpUmB92JE&list=PLYcDc2s179juiglGhvxqaLQncffSy6mX6&index=4

To write a prayer for Christian Aid Week Throughout Christian Aid Week, please: thank God for the difference Christian Aid Week makes for the lives of many of the world’s poorest people thank God for the witness Christian Aid Week demonstrates in your community and around the country ask God to bless all who give their time, talents and money this Christian Aid Week ask God to bless the money raised, that it will bring transformation around the world.

To write a prayer for Morsheda ‘I don’t even dream that things could be better.’ For Morsheda, please pray: for strength as she undertakes backbreaking physical labour for release from her constant hunger for protection for her and her children from the dangerous floods for courage in the face of the risk to her family that through the money raised this Christian Aid Week, she and others like her will find new hope and begin to dream of a better life.

To write a prayer for Feroza There is no sign now of that time I struggled a lot.’ For Feroza, please pray and give thanks: for the change in her life, that she is no longer hungry or at risk of flooding that her small herd of goats, her cows and her chickens will be healthy and fruitful for the continued flourishing of her family for Christian Aid partner GUK, that they will be blessed in their work and able to reach more women like Feroza and Morsheda

To make a prayer mat One of the ways Morsheda earns a living is by harvesting jute, a vegetable fibre that is woven in hessian sacks and bags. Using long, thin strips of paper, on which your prayers have been written for Christian Aid Week, weave these into a prayer mat.
