The Relief of Getting God John 4:1-26

John 4:1-26

Drinking from other wells Jeremiah 2:1-13

Signs that we are drinking from other wells When loving and obeying God isn’t ‘worth it’ When loving and obeying God becomes dry and unappealing When I am ‘trying God out’ as an experiment

Some fears that prevent you from reforming I’m too far gone Nothing lasts I will be disqualified from His favour I’m going to lose the little I have

Some fears that prevent you from reforming I’m too far gone Nothing lasts I will be disqualified from His favour I’m going to lose the little I have Jesus still spoke to her!

The Relief of God’s Gift

1. God’s Gift is Free (10) Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."

1. God’s Gift is Free (10) Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.“ Right here. Right now.

2. God’s Gift is Eternally Satisfying (13-14) Jesus said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

2. God’s Gift is Eternally Satisfying “a spring of water welling up to eternal life”

3. God’s Gift is Exposing (16-18) Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." The woman answered him, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying, 'I have no husband‘… Psalm 32:3-4

4. … puts God on the Throne (19-24) the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.

The Relief of God’s Gift It is Free It is Eternally Satisfying It is Exposing It puts God back on the Throne

Isaiah 55 Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price…

These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you may have life in His name.
