Week 1 IT 1 Who Does What

Week 1 IT 1 ‘Who Does What’ This teacher led activity aims to introduce how sentences are structured in written English. Each sentence has something missing - the ‘who’, or the ‘does’, or the ‘what’. The child’s task is to choose one of four words on the answer sheet to complete the sentence. The first sentence can be used as an example to do together. The teacher shows the sentence and discusses with the children the different parts: e.g. Jack cooks soup (who) (does) (what) as each of these titles come on screen, a picture appears to illustrate them. The children are then shown that: The first word in the sentence is the person (who) The second word is the doing word (does) The third word is the object (what) The next 2 slides are the answer sheets for each child to complete as they watch the IT presentation. These should be printed and distributed to the children before you start. A pencil appears on each slide. This is the cue for the children to circle, or cross their answers. The child’s task is to circle which word/s they think is/are the correct one/s to complete the sentence, and cross through those which they think are incorrect. Sometimes there may be more than one word which is correct. A prompt of ‘Why?’ appears. This is the cue for discussion about the correct and incorrect answers. They then receive feedback on the screen.

Sam cooks …………..… sausages rainy run pasta Answer sheet for IT 1 Page 1 Week 1 IT1 Who does what Name……………………… Date ……………………… Circle the correct word/s and cross out the wrong word/s to complete these sentences. e.g.1.
