T’was the Week Before Christmas A story by Mr. Warren December 2009 I hope you and your family have a great Holiday Season! I’ll look forward to seeing you in 2010! -Mr. Warren

T’was the week before Christmas when all through the school, all the children were busy, obeying each rule!

The stockings were hung in the hallway with care The stockings were hung in the hallway with care. In hopes that Saint Nicholas would leave gifts in there.

The children were nestled all snug in their seats, While they thought of Christmas time, candy and treats.

Maddie was working. Gurnoor’s by the map Maddie was working. Gurnoor’s by the map. Zoya appeared ready for a long winter’s nap.

When out in the hall, there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter. Away to the doorway I flew like a flash, Knocked open my desk drawer and spilled some Warren cash.

The kids were curious, and wanted to know, “Who’s at our door The kids were curious, and wanted to know, “Who’s at our door?” Landon asked, “Is it time to go?” When, what to my wondering eyes should appear? But a bunch of my kids with a smile and a cheer.

Next came a knock at our door, so I answered quick. In came Ms Next came a knock at our door, so I answered quick. In came Ms. Charity with a letter from Saint Nick.

She opened the letter and started the game She opened the letter and started the game. Then I whistled and shouted and called every name: “Now, Spencer! Now, Stason! Now, Garrett and Carson! Come, Isaac! Come, Isreet! Come, Kyndall and Kyle! To the front of the class, get ready for the hall! Now I say, now I say, now I say ALL!”

As I looked at the children, I held the clue high, Then I asked for a reader to give it a try. So Arwen read, “Here’s a fun puzzle for you. To figure it out, you must read every clue.”

And then in a minute we all had a grin, so we went to the library and Riley let us in. Mrs. Woodring was in there, checking out a book. Peter asked, “Is there something for us? Will you please take a look?”

She found another letter that Santa had put, on a shelf in the library close to her foot. Alex raised his hand to read this clue back, It spoke of a place where we eat a tasty snack.

This clue was all wrinkled! But sounded quite merry. We went to the lunch room, to find our next query. The lunch room was quiet, we didn’t see a soul. Lexi added, “We must find that clue or we can’t go!” We found the lunch lady with a grin full of teeth, And the clue, she sited from her register beneath. It sent us where you go when you’ve got a sick belly. “I know,” said Amara, “and it sometimes is smelly!”

It was Audrey, who found the next clue on the shelf, Our nurse gave it to her and she read it herself. A wink of my eye and a nod of my head, “To Mrs. Cassell’s office!” I softly said.

We spoke not a word but went straight to her door, there we saw a bag on the floor. I hoisted this container over my back, We returned to our room and emptied the sack.

I said as they board buses and rode out of sight, With the party all finished and the day all done, I dismissed my students ‘cause the break had begun. I said as they board buses and rode out of sight, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
