Interdisciplinary Research on the antique city of Vani, Georgia, 2014 Cooperation projects of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Georgian National Museum in archaeology and culture Manfred Nawroth Interdisciplinary Research on the antique city of Vani, Georgia, 2014 Disciplines included: Prehistory, Classical Archaeology, History, Building research, Conservation science, Geo sciences Main target: German and Georgian specialists were meeting in Vani to discuss problems, needs and aims of joint projects at the site of Vani Results: - Effective program for the initiation of international partnership research programs - Scientific questions and partners for future research were identified - German participants and their Georgian partners agreed to prepare scientific applications to the DFG in their related fields (Einzelförderung, Sachbeihilfe) up to 3 years

Gerda Henkel Foundation Cooperation projects of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Georgian National Museum in archaeology and culture Manfred Nawroth Gerda Henkel Foundation - The funding activities concentrate basically on German and foreign academics in the fields of historical humanities. Candidates can apply regardless of their nationality and place of work. - The most important criteria when deciding if a grant should be awarded are the academic significance and the quality of the research project. Also precise planning of costs and schedule of the proposed project are absolutely essential. - Research projects in the following fields are supported in particular: Archaeology History of Art Historical Islamic Studies History History of Science History of Law Prehistory and Early History

- Flights: Fall 2016, Project will be finalized 2017 Cooperation projects of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Georgian National Museum in archaeology and culture Manfred Nawroth - As part of the proposed project is intended to settlement mound of Vani (0,085 km²) and its environs systematically with the airborne laser scanning method on an area of 7.5 km² capture. - Using a measuring plane of the mound and the surrounding areas will be flown - Flights: Fall 2016, Project will be finalized 2017

In spite of all the new subject areas and interdisciplinary combinations, the connection to “traditional” subjects such as philosophy and theology, which are also caught up in the process of change, remains important. By the same token, this continues to provide an orientation helping to guide scholarly enquiry which can benefit the broader area of the humanities and cultural sciences.
