Summary of Act Lady Macbeth gets a letter from her husband that talks about the witches predictions and them coming true. Lady Macbeth gets excited and when the messenger tells her about King Duncan coming that night she plots the death of the king. When Macbeth gets home she tells him that all they need to do is look innocent and kind in front of the king until the time comes to kill him. Macbeth isn't sure so he tells her that they will speak later about it but Lady Macbeth tells him that he just needs to leave everything to her.

Character Understanding - Lady Macbeth is the one who does all of the plotting towards the murder of the king since she is the one who pretty much wears the pants in the relationship. -Macbeth has the ambition but isn't one hundred percent sure about murdering the king. -King Duncan is the current King of Scotland who is coming to stay at Macbeth's castle as a guest since Macbeth was named Thane of Cawdor and of coarse is unaware of the betrayal by Macbeth.

Important Lines It is too full o' milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way: thou wouldst be great; art not without ambition, but without the illness should attend it... (This is an important passage during this scene because it is when you first start seeing what the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is). - Come you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty! Make thick my blood; stop up the access and passage to remorse... (This is an important part of this scene because this is when you get a clear view of what kind of person Lady Macbeth actually is). -To beguile the time, look like the time; bear welcome in your eye, your hand, your tongue: look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't. (In this part, Lady Macbeth is telling her husband to act innocent in front of the king even though they have bad intentions. This is the start of the dramatic irony in scene 6).
