Presentation transcript:

Larry was told that a new cream called Muscle-Grow would double a person’s power. Larry buys this special muscle cream and gets his friends Bo and Sy to help him with an experiment. He develops a weight lifting program for each of his friends to do for 2 weeks. Before each session, he rubs Muscle-Grow on Bo’s arms and back. Sy does not receive the lotion. He measures how many pounds each friend can lift before the experiment begins, then again when the 2 week experiment is completed. 1

Smithers thinks that a special juice will make workers more productive. He creates two groups of 50 workers each and assigns each group the same job – to staple a set of papers. Group A is given the special juice to drink while they work. Group B is not given the special juice. After an hour, Smithers counts how many stacks of papers each group has made. Group A made 1,587 stacks, Group B made 2,113 stacks. 2

Homer notices that his shower is covered in a. strange green slime Homer notices that his shower is covered in a strange green slime. His friend Barney tells him that coconut juice will get rid of the green slime. Homer decides to check this out by spraying half of the shower with coconut juice. He sprays the other half of the shower with water. After 3 days of "treatment" there is no change in the appearance of the green slime on either side of the shower 3

I want to see if different colors of light help plants grow better I want to see if different colors of light help plants grow better. I am going to take four plants (all the same type) and set them up underneath different lights. One will be a white light, one will be red, one will be blue, and one will be green. Everyday, I will water them the same amount at the same time. I will also record how high each plant grows for two weeks and then look at my results.   4

“I want to see how taping my thumbs will affect my time it takes to button up a shirt. I will test the same person – they will do three trials buttoning up the same shirt with their thumbs taped to their palms. Then I will do three trials where their thumbs are not taped up. I will average the time in seconds that it takes to button up and shirt with their thumbs taped and without their thumbs taped.” 5

I want to see if drinking a lot of milk will affect how much you eat at dinner. I will take 5 people. For three days, I will give them two glasses of milk to drink before they eat dinner. I will serve the same food for those three days and they will eat at the same time every day. After three days of drinking milk, I will then have the people eat for three days without drinking milk before they eat dinner (again, same food, same time). I will measure how much food they eat in the three days that they drink milk and the three days that they don’t drink milk and compare my results 6

I am doing a test to see if there is a connection between how long you run and how fast your heart beats. I will be performing an experiment where a person will run for a 1 minute and I will check their heartbeat. Then they will run for 2 minutes and I will check their heart rate. I will do this up to 6 minutes and see if there is a connection. 11

I keep seeing these commercials for Special K cereal and if you eat it for 2 weeks, you will lose 10 pounds. I want to test this idea and see if it actually works. I plan on eating whatever I want for the next two weeks and am going to track my weight every morning. Then I will eat nothing but Special K cereal, milk and water for two weeks and track my weight in the morning. 12
