Alabama Course of Study Analyze characteristics of early civilizations in respect to technology, division of labor, government, calendar, and writings. Compare significant features of civilizations that developed in the Tigris-Euphrates, Nile, Indus, and Huang He River Valleys.

Today’s Learning Targets I will be able to use the academic vocabulary of this region and time appropriately. I will identify the cultural and technological developments in ancient Sumerian society. I will analyze the conditions which contributed to the establishment of early civilizations and how those conditions fostered the development of civilization in the Tigris and Euphrates river valley.
