LINE DESIGNS - REady to construct? Draw practice line designs in worksheets 1-2 and 4-5 and/or draw your own acute, right, or obtuse angles with line designs. **reusable paper/worksheet, template ruler, pencil
LINE DESIGNS success criteria My angle and polygon line design constructions show: precision of measurement in line with point connections evenly-curved parabolas *overlapping, tessellation, or symmetry (even in my use of color) *centered or balanced design *Go Farther Criteria for Differentiation
LINE DESIGNS - adjacent angles & shading Copy 33 - Construct the design of adjacent right angles inside the square by first drawing two diagonal lines between opposite corners. Add shading for effect and to showcase symmetry and rotation. ***Copy 33, template, pencil

LINE DESIGNS - practice success criteria angle rays are the correct length angles are the correct measure for symmetry or balance or precision use of a ruler is evident in the straight lines lines connect at a clean intersection with points along the angle rays design spacing shows evenly measured line segments the line design is correctly constructed to create an even parabola
String ART
Line Design or string art the Design Challenge Create a line design or string art for display at an art show and to give as a gift
Line Design or string art Design Challenge criteria line segments less than 18 cm long overlapping and/or symmetry/or tessellation a minimum of 12 acute, right, or obtuse angles filled with accurate line design parabolas accurate line segment connections at .5 cm divisions use of a ruler and/or protractor, compass fewer than 300 (nail) points
Line Design or string art Design Challenge constraints- time (show and gifting dates) materials available (brads hard to get in bulk); cost (limit of brads #); space; dimensions of materials (size of plywood board; height of brads)
LINE DESIGNS - original success criteria for string art line segments less than 18 cm long overlapping and/or symmetry/or tessellation a minimum of 12 acute, right, or obtuse angles filled with accurate line design parabolas accurate line segment connections at .5 cm divisions use of a ruler and/or protractor, compass fewer than 300 (nail) points
string art fashion show
string art fashion show Audition for Fashion Show Speaker Modeling of Success Criteria "Here comes pentagon POP! This masterpiece is created out of 252 nails, four 90 degree angles, 10--60 degree angles, and five 72 degree angles. The pentagon holds a flower inside of it, and the square hold the pentagon. Note the overlapping and tessellation of the triangles, the accurate stringing, the crisp angles, and the contrasting colors which are engineered to make the pentagon POP! Thank you, _________ (say your own name) "
string art fashion show Fashion Show Criteria I have a title for my masterpiece I included at least 5 geometry or line design elements that you included in your masterpiece: evenly spaced nails, nails at the same height, use of a compass or protractor, fewest knots possible, overlapping, tessellation and/or symmetry, polygon shapes, angle measures, # of nails, color scheme to match the title, a theme or story to go with your art piece I used accurate yet vivid descriptions about my masterpiece I concluded with the phrase: Thank you, _________(your name)
LINE DESIGNS - Performance Task STRING ART BOARDS FOR OUR CLASS! Name_____________________________________________ Part I--Mrs. White decided to buy a 4’ X 8’ plywood sheet at a hardware store. She figured she might be able to get a good number of boards if she asked to have them cut into 16’ X 16” boards. Use graph paper to show and explain/label how many boards Mrs. White was able to get from the big plywood sheet using words, numbers, and/or pictures. Part II--If Mrs. White paid $43.80 (sales tax is already included) for each plywood sheet, how much does each 16” x 16” plywood board cost? (Round your decimal to the nearest hundredth)
