Learning Objectives

The heart

Thickness of Chambers Side Thickness Left Atrium Thin walls, only need to pump to ventricles. Left Ventricle Has the thickest muscle and it has to induce enough pressure to pump the blood throughout the whole body. Right Atrium Thin walls only need to pump to ventricles. Right Ventricle Has thinner muscle compare to the left ventricle as it only has to pump blood to the lungs.

Stages of The Cardiac Cycle

The cardiac cycle

Control of The Heartbeat

Electrocardiograms The part labelled P represents the wave of excitation sweeping over the atrial walls. The parts labelled Q, R and S represent the wave of excitation in the ventricle walls. The T section indicates the recovery of the ventricle walls.
