As Writers we will focus on: Reading a selection of poetry and writing our own Roman poems. Writing our own explanation texts linking with our Art and DT work. Following and writing our own instructions. Planning, writing and editing stories with a historical setting. Continuing to develop the correct use of spelling, punctuation and grammar. Improving our handwriting in order to join fluently. As Mathematicians we will be: Using both pounds and pence to add and subtract amounts of money in order to give change. Telling and writing the time using analogue and digital clocks in 12-hour and 24-hour. Understanding Roman Numerals. Recognising 2D and 3D shapes. Identifying different angles within a shape. Solving a variety of number problems. Continuing to develop our mental maths skills. As Scientists we will be: Understanding changes of state Recognising the difference between solids, liquids and gases and grouping materials accordingly. Observing materials that change when they are heated or cooled. Understanding how condensation and evaporation takes place. Learning how the water cycle works. Explaining the rate of evaporation in relation to temperature. As Artists we will be: Studying Roman mosaics to understand their significance in Roman society. Creating our own Roman mosaics. As Designers we will be: Designing, making and evaluating a Roman shield and a Roman helmet. As Athletes we will focus on: Tag Rugby – Learning the skills required to take part in a game and apply these when working as part of a team. Dance – Using a range of movements to create and perform a Roman battle dance. Netball – Understanding the rules to attack and defence in a competitive game. As ICT experts we will be: Using the internet safely and choosing reliable sources. Refining our research skills using ICT. Designing, writing and debugging programs. Using sequence, selection and repetition in programs. As Historians we will be: Researching the Roman Empire. Understanding what life was like during Roman times. Researching why the Romans were so powerful and what they did for us. As Geographers we will be: Locating Rome on a world map. Understanding different mountains across the world. Locating various rivers, linking with our Science topic of the water cycle.

In PSCHE we will be: Understanding the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. Looking at the different ways we take care of ourselves. In SEAL we will be: Setting ourselves goals and looking at how we can achieve them. Understanding that we are all unique and special. Recognising our strengths as individuals. In French we will be: Learning about the Epiphany and French traditions. Learning about different foods eaten in France Creating our own menu. Asking for a meal in a Café. In RE we will be: Learning about different inspirational people. Thinking about the people who inspire us and why. In Music we will be: Using both our voice and instruments with accuracy and control. Continuing to play the recorder in tune as a solo and an ensemble.
