RSC SEPTEMBER 2016

World Convention 36 WCNA Updates Sign up to receive information about the 37th World Convention of NA, to be held in 2018 in Orlando, Florida, USA. You will receive updates as they are available. Information will begin to flow following WSC2016

Guiding Principles: The Spirit of our Traditions We approved the Traditions Book which will be ready for purchase in October 2016.

World Board Happenings A Guide to World Service in NA 2016 - 2018 Draft of WSC 2016 Minutes Issue Discussion Topic Questions and Workshop outlines

WSC Summary of Decisions NAWS has uploaded and posted at www.na.org/conference a first draft summary of decisions from the Conference. We hope this makes reporting to your regions easier. If there is something we forgot to upload or if you believe you’ve spotted an error in the summary of decisions, please let us know.

Web Meetings If you would like to join and discuss issues and solutions in service efforts, please send your name, trusted servant position, and region and/or area to events@na.org for conventions, HandI@na.org for H&I and Inmate Step Writing committees, PR@na.org for PR/PI trusted servants, and servicesystem@na.org for Service System. These member-driven web meetings are held every three to four months.

Workgroup Participation Interested in participating in a workgroup or helping with a project in some way this cycle? NAWS will be coordinating several virtual focus and workgroups, and possibly some face- to-face workgroups this cycle. If you are interested in ‘The Future of the WSC’; ‘Service Tools’; ‘WSC Seating’ or any other projects, please let the World Board know at worldboard@na.org If you have not completed a World Pool Form, please complete one at www.na.org/HRP

Future Literature Projects NAWS plans to collect input for potential future literature projects including an IP on mental illness and recovery and a daily meditation book. More information forthcoming. No workgroup for a literature project will be put together this cycle.

Service Pamphlets NAWS is highlighting this valuable resource for groups and members—available online here: www.na.org/?ID=servicemat-svc-pamphlets

IDT’s Issue Discussion Topics Topics for this cycle: Applying Our Principles to Technology Social Media: How to Use “Guiding Principles” Atmosphere of Recovery in Service Every member, inspired by the gift of recovery, experiences spiritual growth and fulfillment through service. NAWS will send an eblast when workshop and discussion questions are developed.

Financials Long-term financial viability is a priority for NAWS in this cycle. NAWS is focused on ensuring NAWS’ sustainability; including reevaluating our literature distribution system.

FIPT We all, as members, need to protect the copyrights WSC 2016 included a couple of sessions focused on the Fellowship Intellectual Property Trust to seek guidance from the delegates. A statement has been released and will be discussed briefly at the end of this presentation. I have handed a printed copy out today as well as posting same on our website in the Announcements section. We all, as members, need to protect the copyrights of NA’s literature. Input Deadline was September 1, 2016 We have received limited input for this request and informed the World Board of that matter

Fellowship Intellectual Property Trust The Conference has clearly stated that only literature written by addicts for addicts and approved through global decision making at the WSC should carry the NA name. And, in a delegated responsibility from the fellowship, NA World Services is the sole publisher and distributor of that literature. We continue to believe that members with information remain in the most advantageous position to halt copyright infringements, and we welcome opportunities to help.
