Being Resourceful: Finding funding for your local PTHV

Objectives Understand the potential of philanthropy (foundations and individual donors) in advancing your work Develop your own language to talk about the impact of home visits Explore the available data for making your case Practice “making the ask”   Emily

Sources of Private Funds All national donors, all organizations 87% 8% 5% Individuals Foundations Corporations Source: Giving USA Foundation | Giving USA 2015 (Report on 2014 Philanthropy)

Charitable Gifts by Segment 2014 contributions: $358.38 billion by type of recipient organization (in billions of dollars – all figures are rounded). All data is the property of Giving USA 2015, the Annual Report on Philanthropy .

Who is a potential donor?

The 10% rule: Only 10% of getting $ is asking for it… think CULTIVATION.

The Pipeline: How do we fill it? Where do we need to spread our message for future support? Are we thinking big and wide about who we talk to about home visits? Are we making best use of our current supporters? When we get “into the room” with potential supporters, do we know what to say?

Activity: Make your case, make the ask Story Data (www.pthvp.org/what-we-do/results/) Ask

We’re all in this together!
