3-5 More on Solving Equations

Variables on Both Sides First get all like terms on the same side by using the opposite operation Combine like terms Get the variable by itself using multiplication or division

Example 1 Solve 2𝑥−2=−3𝑥+3

Example 2 Solve 6𝑚+5−7𝑚=10−5𝑚+3

Example 3 Solve 3 𝑛−2 −1=2−5(𝑛+5)

Solve. 1. 7𝑦+5=2𝑦+10 2. 5−2𝑝=3𝑝−5

3. 7𝑥−17+2𝑥=2−8𝑥+15

4. 3𝑛−15=5𝑛+3−4𝑛

5. 3 7+2𝑥 =30+7(𝑥−1)

6. 4 3+5𝑦 −4=3+2(𝑦−2)

7. 4𝑥−7=3𝑥 8. 9𝑥−6=3𝑥
