Manuscript Format – Margins (APA) Margins should be at least 1" all the way around. The text itself should start at the 1" mark. The header should be above the text. Therefore, on a word processor, the top margin should be one-half inch (.5").

Manuscript Format – References Page (APA) The reference list heading should look just like this: References Not "Bibliography," not "Works Cited" Do not use all capital letters. Do not underline, bold, or italicize.

If an article has more than one author, list the names within the reference in the order they are given in the book or periodical. Reference page citations for articles without authors should be listed in alphabetical order according to the article title. Do not regard "A," "An," or "The" as the first word in a title.

Manuscript Format – Block Quotes (APA) Block quotations (any direct quote over 40 words) should be indented 5 spaces from the left hand margin only. Block quotes should not be surrounded by quotation marks. The block quotation should end with a final punctuation mark which should be followed by the in-text citation.
