Purpose of the ISCR Record all cases of malignant disease, other tumors and pre-cancerous diseases that are diagnosed or treated in Indiana Provide data information to advance research endeavors Guide planning and evaluation of cancer control programs so appropriate preventive control measures can be applied Full explanation of purpose ― IC 16-38-2-1 www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title16/ar38/ch2.html

About the ISCR Established in 1985 Federally enhanced funding Reporting began January 1, 1987 Federally enhanced funding Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Annual submission Data completeness, timeliness, and quality Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Program of Cancer Registries North American Association of Central Cancer Registries

Examples of Internal Data Usage Collect statewide cancer data to provide accurate cancer incidence and mortality to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention Provide data to support grant initiatives Provide support for cancer control planning

Examples of External Data Usage Provide data for statewide and national research studies The Indiana Cancer Control Plan 2010-2014 includes data from the ISCR The Indiana Cancer Consortium Data Committee relies on the ISCR for the development of reports, such as the Indiana Cancer Facts & Figures 2015, fact sheets, and infographs The Cancer Control Section at the Indiana State Department of Health utilizes ISCR data for press releases, targeting local cancer control efforts, health system initiatives, etc.

ISCR Tools Statistics Report Generator Available to the public and on the ISCR website as the Statistics Report Generator The user can generate a tailored report based on their selection of county, age, race sex, year, and stage at diagnosis To protect patient confidentiality, access to data at the county level is limited. These limitations do not apply to the Public Health Preparedness Districts, which are regional groups of counties.
