THE TOTEM POLE

It isn't a religious icon. The totem pole It isn't a religious icon. Humans, animals and supernatual beings are on it and tell the story of the family. In summer, dancers sing and dance around it for days to ask protection for the future.

THE MEDICINE MAN

The medicine man Medicine men have strong visions. They are guided by the Great Spirit and ask for help in difficult situations. They are also doctors.

THE EAGLE

The Eagle The eagle is the “Master of the sky”. It is the Creator's messenger. It represents: honesty, majesty, strength, courage, wisdom, power and freedom. Brave warriors received eagle feathers for their acts.

The life of Native Americans

They lived in the GREAT PLAINS called THE PRAIRIES: where is it? IT IS A BIG AREA IN THE MIDDLE OF THE USA AND CANADA.

THEY WERE NOMADIC AND THEY LIVED IN TENTS called “TEPEE” THEY WERE NOMADIC AND THEY LIVED IN TENTS called “TEPEE”. THEY LOVED NATURE AND SPORTS (horse racing and running). How did they live?

THE MEN AND BOYS WENT HUNTING THE WOMEN STAYED AT HOME LOOKING AFTER THE CHILDREN.

THE BISON /BUFFALO WAS A VERY IMPORTANT ANIMAL FOR THEM: THEY ATE THE MEAT AND USED THE SKINS TO MAKE CLOTHES AND TENTS THEY MADE BLANKETS FROM THE WOOL AND TOOLS FROM THE BONES.
