GREEN INSTRUCT Green Integrated Structural Elements for Retrofitting and New Construction of Buildings Theme: H2020-EEB-2016-2017 - Type of Action: RIA - Grant agreement no: 723825 The goal of Green INSTRUCT project is the production of prefabricated structural components for building envelopes, suitable both for retrofitting as well as new construction. These prefabricated components will be produced through mainly extrusion technique at a prototype level almost entirely from CDW raw materials. Green INSTRUCT at a glance Polyurethane Insulating Foam Produced by extrusion 4-6 mm thickness Eurocode 9 compliant Polyurethane Insulating Foam from PU waste with additives and reinforcing fibers 50-100mm thickness Magnesium Oxide Cement MOC with Fibers, Aggregates and PCMs 20-40 mm thickness Density 1-1.2 g/cm3 Photocatalytic Layer Doped TiO2 coating for indoor activation Reinforced Fibers Reinforcing Fibers from wood and textiles Green Wall Geopolymer Layer Reinforcing Fibers Air Gap Reinforcing Fibers from PVC, PET and textiles 2-5% loading 30-60 mm Geopolymer Matrix from CDW: clay, wood, glass, bricks, gypsum and tiles Density 1-1.7 g/cm3 Recycled Aluminum Frame Internal panel Thermal comfort (U=0.14 W/m2C) Seismic resistance Indoor air quality Fire protection (class B) Visual comfort (wood texture) Acoustic Insulation (18 to 20 Rayl/cm2) External panel Aesthetics Biodiversity Physical resistance Greywater management Acoustic insulation System Design Optimization of material flow and CDW harvesting CFD for thermal performance and volume optimization Optimized weight and volume (Weight 40-80 kg) Easy to assemble, transport, install, maintain and recycle (15-20% faster installation) Scalable material processing through extrusion Over 70% CDW per weight (on average 30 kg of CDW per block) Adaptable with tunable thickness (126-286 mm) Eurocode compliant Efficient, robust, eco-friendly and replicable processes Safe and energy efficient buildings Sustainability and cost savings through CDW sourced materials & C2C Comfortable, healthy and productive environment Cost efficient products and new supply chains OBJECTIVES High CO2 and energy inputs savings during the fabrication and operation processes Reentry into production lines with coherent design strategies Incorporation of the safety-by-design approach Reduction of uncertainty linked to the use of recycled products High rates of CDWs recycle and reuse during building blocks fabrication IMPACT 7th ECTP conference INNOVATIVE BUILT ENVIRONMENT. 17-18 November 2016, Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels, Belgium
