Review Linear Functions Equations, Tables & Graphs Grade 8 : Topics 7 & 8 Review Linear Functions Equations, Tables & Graphs Key Vocabulary: Independent & dependent variables Slope and Rate of Change Y-Intercept and Initial Value Slope-Intercept Form of Equation: y=mx + b

OBJECTIVES: Be able to… Write a linear function rule (equation) from a graph, a table, two ordered pairs, or from a given slope and a point. Describe the meaning of the slope and the initial value (y-intercept) in context to a graph, table or description. Use a graph or function rule to predict values. Determine if the rate of change is increasing or decreasing based on the slope. Graph a function from the standard form of an equation by solving for y in terms of x, or by finding the x and y intercepts.

WARM UP Instruction: Based on the definition of a function, determine if which variable(s) could be a function of another variable(s)? X 11 15 19 23 27 Y 2 5 7 Z 1 3 4
