How do we “measure” the health (closeness) of our relationship with God? Measurement #1: Do we obey Him? (John 14:23-24; 1 John 5:3)

How do we “measure” the health (closeness) of our relationship with God? Measurement #1: Do we obey Him? (John 14:23-24; 1 John 5:3) Measurement #2: Are we obeying God more than we use to? (Ephesians 4:15)

Our “closeness” to God is measured by our obedience to God. (But God does want us to “feel” close to Him.) This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent – Jesus Christ. Jesus, John 17:3 My goal is to know Christ…. Paul, Philippians 3:10

Our “closeness” to God is measured by our obedience to God. (But God does want us to “feel” close to Him.) It takes intentional effort to grow and strengthen our relationship with God; without effort, we will drift from God. …build yourselves up in your most holy faith. Jude 20

It takes intentional effort to grow and strengthen our relationship with God; without effort, we will drift from God. Simon, whom Jesus also renamed Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; Matthew and Thomas; James son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot; Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. Luke 6:14-16

The health of our relationship with God is The health of our relationship with God is first measured by our obedience to God. (But God does want us to “feel” close to Him.) I must make intentional effort at growing – or I will drift. A growing/healthy relationship with God not only pleases God, but it will make your life more satisfying and will lead to greater impact on the world.

I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. Jesus, John 10:10 The one who wants to love life and to see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit, and he must turn away from evil and do what is good. He must seek peace and pursue it. 1 Peter 3:10-11
