Radial Balance In Art & Photography

Balance Balance is a principle of design and is the way in which the elements in visual arts are arranged to create a feeling of equilibrium in a work of art. The three types of balance are symmetry, asymmetry, and radial. Today we are going to look at radial balance.

How can you achieve good balance in photography? Balance when composing an image requires the correct combination of colors, shapes, and areas of light and dark that complement each another. By looking at your subject and capturing it from different viewpoints, angles or even at different lighting, you can compose a balanced image. Rearranging the elements can also make the image balanced.

Radial balance is any type of balance based on a circle with its design extending from its center.

What examples of radial balance can you think of in art, nature, or life?

A marble, the pupil of your eyes, a wheel with spokes, and a flower can be examples of radial balance.

Let’s take a look at some examples of radial balance in art & photography…
