Bottled Water Effects on health, environment and personal finances Beleslin Milivoj

Health Clean, affordable drinking water is essential to the health of our global community.

Health Studies show that consumers associate bottled water with healthy living.

The truth is: Bottled water is not guaranteed to be any healthier than tap water!

Health In fact, roughly 40 percent of bottled water begins as tap water. Often the only difference is added minerals that have no marked health benefit. The added minerals are helpful in small amounts but may be dangerous in higher doses.

Cost Although in the industrial world bottled water is often no healthier than tap water, it can cost up to 10,000 times more!

Health The most commonly used plastic for making water bottles is polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is derived from crude oil.

Cost Just in Europe Just in Europe 52,000,000,000 liters of PET bottled water were produced in 2004, using more than 35,000,000 barrels of oil, enough to fuel more than 2 million cars for a year!

Environment In contrast to tap water, which is distributed through an energy-efficient infrastructure, transporting bottled water long distances involves creating unnecessary garbage and consuming vast quantities of energy by burning massive quantities of fossil fuels.

Environment To meet worldwide bottled water demand, 2.7 million tons of plastic are used each year.

Environment An astonishing 86 % of these bottles become garbage or litter!*

Environment San Gabriel River, Los Angeles

Buried water bottles can take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade! Environment Buried water bottles can take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade!

Environment In addition to the strains bottled water puts on our ecosystem through its production and transport, the rapid growth in this industry means that communities where bottling plants are located apply water extraction

Environment Concentrated water extraction makes water tables in these communities drop quickly hence farmers, fishers, and others who depend on water for their livelihoods suffer greatly as a result!

Environment Unfortunately, in a number of places, including Europe and the United States, there are more regulations governing the quality of tap water than bottled water.

Environment is health–friendly as : In summary, tap water   In summary, tap water is health–friendly as : It is s not stored in (PET) bottles, made of plastic derived from crude oil. 2. The minerals added to bottled water may be dangerous in higher doses. Doesn’t require burning massive quantities of fossil fuels polluting the air we breath and taking 1000 years to biodegrade.

Environment Tap water is environment –friendly as it:   Tap water is environment –friendly as it: Doesn’t use up tons of energy Doesn’t create unnecessary garbage ...is distributed through an energy-efficient infrastructure.

Environment In summary, tap water is finance–friendly as it:   In summary, tap water is finance–friendly as it: Can cost up to 10,000 times less then bottled water! Saves you money and lets you spend it on other useful stuff.

Health OK, I am convinced now, but how clean is the tap water?

Health Since tap water is not the same quality everywhere and may contain impurities, filtering tap water is generally recommended .

Solution Aquarion is a water filtering device that goes a step further   Aquarion is a water filtering device that goes a step further and lets you consume clean, ionized alkaline water , filtered from impurities and toxins, such as heavy metals, chlorine and pesticides.

Health Remember that while minerals added to bottled water often have no marked health benefit and may be dangerous in higher doses, ionized alkaline water may restore healthy (pH) balance, that food additives, medications and foods itself may shift in the body towards the acidic.

Cost Also keep in mind that bottled water, in addition to damaging the environment, can cost up to 10,000 times more then tap water!

Health If a family of four spends 40 euros a month on bottled water, this amounts to 500 euros a year. When you invest into Aquarion water filter and ionizer, it takes only three years for your investment to pay off .

Health From that day on you are drinking the best drinking water for free! ....and saving 1400 PET bottles a year! ...out of which 86% would end up as garbage polluting our planet!

Cost But that’s not all! When you share this health and environment oriented philosophy with your neighbour and he comes on board, you are already in business to pocket some really cool profits! Let’s calculate...

Cost One neighbour - 500 Euros a year Five neighbours - 2500 Euros a year ...while saving 8400 PET bottles a year... Now isn’t that cool? : )
