THE GOLDEN TOWER 1

The golden tower was built between 1200 and 1221. It was used for protecte the Alcázar. It was decorated with various military and civilian pieces that show the mean that the Guadalquivir significates in the history of the city with a collection of objects. 2

Ibn Mu'adh al-Jayyani He was a mathematician of Al-Andalus, which particularly noted for his research and contributions to trigonometry. Is known as Ibn al-Jayyani Mu'adh Ibn al-Sammak.Some of his ancestors were Kadis of Jaén, Seville and Cordoba. He traveled to Egypt during his trip to Mecca, where he came into contact with the mathematicians of the time in the East. He made the calculation of the height of the atmosphere - 83.86 miles-on the basis of four parameters that were the earth's circunference, the relative size of the Earth and the Sun at a ratio 5.5 3

There are rectangles and semicircles. The materials that was built the golden tower are breaks. 4

ABBAS IBN FIRNAS He was born in Ronda and was well known for his experiments and inventions. He created a water clock, developed the technique of carving rock crystal and also created an armillary sphere to represent the movements of the stars. 5
