ADOLESCENT HEALTH STATISTICS AND TRENDS Adolescents (10-19 years) constitute 24% of the population Young people aged 10-24 years constitute about 36% of the population CPR -married adolescent girls (15-19) 37% Teenage pregnancy rate 18% Unmet need for FP 23% Domestic violence – 30% of married adolescent girls MMR twice as high in women 15-19 compared to those 20-34 years HIV- Knowledge on HIV and HIV testing rates increasing - Constitute 29% of New HIV Infections Other Issues: - NCDs - Suicide rates - School drop outs Drugs and substance abuse 18% of 15-17 yrs olds reported ever using any drug FGM declined from 20% in 2003 to 11% in 2014
