Aim and Targeted Audience Online learning community for people to learn Chinese Target adults as its audience

How to Justify There are several possibilities to justify an educational product or program which we want to develop

How to Justify – no needs If there are no needs, create needs, then products.

How to Justify – with needs If there are needs over there, and no products or solutions, it seems whatever you come out might be justified. and products or solutions, you need to create something better by meeting the needs either they cannot meet or they cannot satisfactorily meet or they ignore or in different ways

Needs? Needs related to learning Chinese? The answer is YES

Needs Needs to learn Chinese Evidence 1 Evidence 2 Needs or the learning problems which learners have when they are engaged in learning Chinese.

Principles of Learning Language As much as possible, language learning should emulate authentic language use. performance with language rather than knowledge about the language. comprehension and production. requires an understanding of the cultural context within which communication takes place. takes into account individual learning styles and rates engagement Assessment reflects instructional goals and is performance oriented. Technology and textbook materials play a support role for language-learning goals; they should not determine curriculum. Teachers are qualified in the languages they teach; proficiency in the language, experience with the cultures, pedagogical expertise specific to the language.

Principles to Needs Looking from another way, we can view these principles as learning needs. the first principle “As much as possible, language learning should emulate authentic language use.” can be rephrased as “learners need to learn a language in a way emulating authentic language use.”

Solutions? Learn Chinese in a language immersion program Learn Chinese full-time in school Learn Chinese in China or other Chinese-speaking areas Learn Chinese with computer software or tapes Learn Chinese online

Justification for my Project There are needs: Tremendous to needs to learn Chinese Needs or learning problems emerged when being engaged in learning Chinese There are programs and solutions Are they good? So what I have to do is to design a better program by meeting the needs either they cannot meet or they cannot satisfactorily meet or they ignore or in different ways

Justification for my Project Is it possible for me to design a better program Yes, because I am in LDT program How to design a better program I need YOUR HELP

Thanks!
