E-Board LFD Hardware Features

Two Types of Factory Integrated Touch Samsung e-board LFDs offer two different types of factory integrated touch technology: DME-BR and QMD-BR utilize IR touch overlays PMF-BC utilizes capacitive touch overlays

Infrared (IR) Touch Technology Infrared (IR) touch systems use an array of infrared LEDs on two adjacent bezel edges of a display, with photo sensors placed on the two opposite bezel edges. The infrared bezel is mounted to the front of the display screen where the LED and photo sensor pairs create a grid of light beams across the display. An object (such as a finger or stylus) that touches the screen interrupts the light beams, causing a measured decrease in light at the corresponding photo sensors. The measured photo sensor outputs can be used to locate a touch-point coordinate.

Capacitive Touch Technology Capacitive touch technology utilizes a conductive layer, applied to the glass overlay. A small voltage is applied to the layer, resulting in a uniform electrostatic field. When a conductor (such as a finger), touches the uncoated surface, a capacitor is dynamically formed. Sensors in the overlay can determine the location of the touch from the change in the capacitance as measured from the four corners of the overlay.

Factory Integrated Touch Factory integrated IR touch e-board models (DME-BR) feature a pre-assembled touch overlay, and come with a pen tray and stylus pen.

Factory Integrated Touch Three touch outputs; 1 on the rear of the LFD, 1 on the pen tray, and 1 permanently connected to the SoC. When inputs are switched, the USB automatically switches to the paired output. Pen tray offers power and source controls, HDMI input for convenience. Samsung PC Modules

Accessory PC Modules Samsung commercial LFDs feature a modular PC system, as accessories. A PC module can be easily added to almost any model in the Samsung commercial LFD product lineup, enabling digital signage, whiteboard, or other computer based application. These modules will either be set back boxes (SBB), or OPS compatible plug in modules (PIM).

Set Back Box (SBB) External slim set back box for compatible LED LFD displays. Attaches to the rear of the display with built in brackets. SBB-DA (SBB-B64DV4): AMD Quad core 2.5 GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon graphics, 64GB SSD, Windows 7 Embedded SBB-B32D (SBB-B32DV4): AMD Quad core 2.5 GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon graphics, 32GB SSD, Windows 7 Embedded SBB-B64D (SBB-B64DI4): AMD Quad core 2.5 GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon graphics, 64GB SSD, Windows 8.1 Industrial Connects to the display (DVI/MagicInfo in) with included DisplayPort to DVI cable (long AND short). Requires second power input.

Plug in Module (PIM) External small form factor OPS set back box for compatible LED LFD displays. Attaches to the rear of the display with PIM mounting frame. SBB-PB64HI4: Quad Core 2.5 GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon graphics, 32GB SSD, Windows 8.1 Industrial SBB-PB64HV4: Quad Core 2.5 GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon graphics, 32GB SSD, Windows 7 Embedded USB (2x 3.0, 2x 2.0) and RJ45 LAN onboard. Connects to the display using OPS connector and PIM frame. Does not require separate power or video connection. Only compatible with PIM socket displays. PHF-P, DME-BR, DM75E, DM82D

IWB Software Solutions

Powerful IWB Software: MagicIWB S2 and I2 There are two different levels of IWB (Interactive White Board) solution available from Samsung, allowing you to tailor the solution to the needs of the user: MagicIWB S2: An embedded, entry level e-Board software without the need for additional PC or license purchase, comprehensive whiteboard functions and wide range of external content source compatibility. MagicIWB I2: More comprehensive and powerful purchasable Windows PC based IWB solution, providing expanded tools and increased interactivity with portable devices in the classroom/meeting space.

MagicIWB S2 IWB S2 is integrated into the SoC (System on a Chip) embedded in the LFD. It will appear as a standard input, accessible like any other input from the on screen menus, remote control, or source button. IWB S2 provides a comprehensive, entry level set of whiteboard features: 2 point touch Multiple pen colors Ability to open files and documents for annotation from USB IWB S2 allows users to: Save, store, and email sessions from onboard storage or USB Export sessions as saved documents IWB S2 also provides the unique ability to access and annotate over inputs and the Picture in Picture (PiP) processor, letting the user draw onto external inputs, full screen or windowed, which can then be saved as images. IWB S2 can open/save files from USB or internal storage, not network shares.

MagicIWB S2 System Architecture The complete MagicIWB I2 solution consists of the following elements: MagicIWB Board S2 MagicIWB Board I2 is the embedded, comprehensive whiteboard application, allowing drawing, annotation, opening of documents and content files. MagicIWB Agent MagicIWB Agent, which installs on various mobile devices (Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OS, Chrome OS), connects directly to the e-board over the network and enables the transfer of files between the electronic whiteboard and attendees‘ computers or tablets. This allows attendees to access and share PowerPoint presentations, video, and more with the touch of a finger.

MagicIWB I2 MagicIWB I2 expands upon the integrated features of MagicIWB S2, providing a state-of-the-art complete whiteboard and collaboration solution. MagicIWB I2 runs on any Windows PC, adding power and capabilities beyond the SoC. MagicIWB I2 adds additional tools: Handwriting, equation, and shape recognition Interact and annotate directly in Windows applications The I2 software also adds additional capture options, such as printing of sessions, and the ability to record video with room audio for the entire session.

MagicIWB I2 System Architecture The complete MagicIWB I2 solution consists of the following elements: MagicIWB Board I2 MagicIWB Board I2 is the more powerful Windows-based whiteboard application, allowing drawing, annotation, opening of documents and content files. MagicIWB Manager The MagicIWB Manager connects teachers’ and students’ or presenters’ and attendees’ devices to encourage interactive communication. Participants can share files and other materials, and teachers or presenters can share screens and control audience devices during classes and presentations. MagicIWB Agent MagicIWB Agent, which installs on various mobile devices (Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OS, Chrome OS), connects directly to the e-board over the network and enables the transfer of files, interaction, and screen sharing between the electronic whiteboard and attendees‘ computers or tablets.

Wireless Collaboration – IWB I2, Manager, and Agent When all three components of IWB I2 are combined on a single network, the capabilities of the IWB Agent go from simple file sharing to a complete collaboration tool. The Agent can be installed on any Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Chrome OS device, to allow full collaboration with the whiteboard over a network. The Agent allows for screen sharing, file transfer, messaging, testing / polling / voting among the users connected to the whiteboard. Agent users can also be allowed to control the whiteboard from their mobile devices. Basic device management such as screen locking, web browser, and app locking are included. Up to 20 Agents are supported on a typical network.
