Ordering Flowers Must know quantity to order. Important to making money for store. Most flowers ordered from Wholesale Florist. Wholesale florist has wide variety of material. Make regular deliveries to stores or schools.

Flower and Foliage Classification Each flower or foliage used in an arrangement has distinguishing characteristics. Plant material is classified into four groups based on form and shape.

Line Flowers Long, slender spikes of blossoms with florets blooming along the stem. Bare Twigs Used to establish the Skeleton of arrangement. Determine Height and Width Ex. Gladiolus, Snapdragons, Stock

Mass Flowers Single stem flowers with large rounded heads. Used within the framework of the linear flowers toward focal point. Ex. Roses, Carnations, Daisies

Filler Flowers Fill in the gaps between mass flowers and give depth to the design. Follow patterns set by the line and mass flowers. Add emphasis to main blossoms. Two Groups of fillers.

Bunchy Filler Flowers Group #1 Have small mass-type heads. Ex. Pompon ChrysanthemumsCelsoia, Statice, Mum, Yarrow

Feathery Filler Flowers Group #2 Give a delicate, feminine appearance to an arrangement. Ex. Baby’s Breath, Statice, Wax Flower, Spray Aster

Form Flowers Unusual distinctive shapes. Ideal to create a focal point in a design. Ex. Orchids, Calla Lilies
