Introduction Tekes is the most important publicly funded expert organisation for financing research, development and innovation in Finland. Tekes promotes a broad-based view on innovation: besides funding technological breakthroughs, Tekes emphasises the significance of service-related, design, business, and social innovations. Tekes finances annually around 1,800 business research and development projects, and public research projects at universities, research institutes and universities of applied sciences. DM 03-2013

Evaluation Questions How could R&D and innovation activities funded by Tekes be developed in the future? How to evaluate programmes and Tekes activities by using online and foresight evaluation tools? What are good practices to facilitate learning and in-depth understanding of How the impact is created, and How it can be used in the development of Tekes evaluation? DM 09-2016

Innovation funding with proven impact SMEs expect projects in 2015 to produce billion euros in turnover during the target year 8 Tekes has partly funded 65% of well-known Finnish innovations Projects that were completed in 2015 generated patents Projects that were completed in 2015 generated products, services or processes 1,880 1, 250 In growth companies funded by Tekes, the increase of turnover was points faster than in other SMEs in 2011-2014 18 % of Tekes customers state that the Tekes funding was a significant factor in their success Over 80% Projects that were completed in 2015 generated academic theses 1,320 In SMEs funded by Tekes 10 years ago the increase of jobs was 3,000 Tekes provides innovation funding with proven impact.
