Rental Assistance Demonstration RAD New way of doing business for PHAs Turns public housing units into Project Based Rental Assistance Units Provides more stable funding to make much needed improvements to our properties Uses public and private debt, mortgages, tax credits, and different forms of grant funding CMHA to spend $50 million in RAD construction over the next year and potentially over $700 million in the next five to seven years

And Sustainable Communities RAD And Sustainable Communities Tax Credit funding: RAD Property Conversions must be Green certified by: “Enterprise Green Communities” or “National Green Building Standards” or “LEED.” (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) by the US Green Building Council Purpose is to improve the health and well-being of low-income people by transforming the quality of affordable housing in America. Certification includes outside evaluation of Design, Construction Monitoring, and Post-Build testing and assessments using green criteria for environmental, economic, societal/health benefits.

Building for the Future Initiative CMHA’s Building for the Future Initiative CMHA’s educational and support initiative to insure economic inclusion for small, Section 3, and diverse businesses To help them prepare for HUD’s massive construction opportunity known as RAD Assist these companies to successfully compete for subcontracts from larger companies doing large rehab and renovations of CMHA properties

Building for the Future Initiative CMHA’s Building for the Future Initiative Involves Partnerships with organizations that provide training, consultation and support for: Sustainability and Green Certification Entrepreneur and Start-Up Training Financing and Bonding Business Planning and Development Business Technology Networking with Primes
