Graduation Requirements & Honors Diploma Granville High School 2017-2018 ALL GRADE LEVELS (Audio included)

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS - ALL GRADES To graduate from high school in the state of Ohio, students need to complete two tasks. TASK ONE: CREDITS TASK TWO: TESTING

CREDIT REQUIREMENTS – ALL GRADES Subject Area Required Credits English 4 Social Studies (US, World, Gov) 3 Science (1 life, 1 physical) 3 Math 4 (must complete Alg. II) PE .5 (may be waived) Health .5 Tech/Foreign Language 1 Financial Literacy class 1 course (grades 9-12) Fine Arts 1 credit (grades 7-12) Additional credits 5-6 Total 21

TESTING REQUIREMENTS Three testing pathways to a high school diploma 1. Earn cumulative score on end-of-course state tests. 2. Demonstrate college readiness. 3. Demonstrate work force readiness.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS 1. Earn a cumulative passing score of 18 points on the following seven end-of-course state tests. Literature Survey & Composition World Literature & Composition Algebra I Geometry United States History American Government Biology

TESTING REQUIREMENTS For each state test, a student earns 1 to 5 graduation points. A high score on one test can balance a low score on another test. Point breakdown by subject: Math = 4 point minimum English = Social Studies/Science = 6 point minimum

TESTING REQUIREMENTS If your student took Biology in the 2014-2015 school year, they will be assigned graduation points based on their final letter grade. If your student completed Algebra I before July 1, 2014, they will be assigned 3 graduation points automatically Algebra I. A = 5 points B = 4 points C = 3 points D = 2 points

TESTING REQUIREMENTS Resources: AP - Students taking AP US History and/or AP Government may take their respective AP exams in May instead of the state end-of-course tests. The AP exam score will count toward the student’s graduation points. CCP - Students taking College Credit Plus courses in tested subjects will use the course grade, not end-of-course test points, to determine their points earned toward graduation. Resources: For more information on end-of-course state tests, please click here.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS 2. Students earn “remediation-free” scores in English language arts and mathematics on either the SAT or ACT. ACT SAT Math 22 520 Reading 21 Critical Reading 450 English 18 Writing 430

TESTING REQUIREMENTS 3. Students earn 12 points through an industry-recognized credential or group of credentials in a single career field and achieve a workforce readiness score on the WorkKeys assessment. Our students who attend C-TEC will have direct access to opportunities for credentialing while also preparing for the WorkKeys assessment. Resources: Industry-recognized credential information is located here.
