Background Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools (based at the University of Strathclyde) Initially a co-operation between Learning and Teaching Scotland and Hanban (the office of Chinese language and culture across schools) Supported by Scottish Government Confucius Hub model basing the Confucius Classroom in a school within a Local Authority Initially 10 Confucius Hubs in Scotland – now 22 East Dunbartonshire launch 13th February 2009

The ‘Chinese Bagpipes’ were difficult to play but it was fun. I have enjoyed performing and helping with the show. Each performance was put together in an excellent way. -----------S3 Taking part in the Chinese New Year celebration was amazing. The singing and dancing was great and I loved learning about the culture and performing on stage with my friends. ----------- S1 The ‘Chinese Bagpipes’ were difficult to play but it was fun. -----------S3 The Chinese New Year show was a culturally rich and interesting way to show the unique traditions of China. ----------- S6 I enjoyed the Chinese New Year show experience. I participated in the Chinese hip pop dance. I liked learning about the Chinese culture. ----------- S1
