Why House Bolting Needed?

House Bolting strengthens your home and decreases the injury risk at time of earthquake.

House Bolting - The process of attaching the house to its concrete foundation.

The purpose of house bolting is to make your building more safer and less prone to structural damage.

The bolting helps to improve the connection between the framing and the foundation concrete and strengthens the house.

Careful planning, placement and installation is always the right key for a better and risk-free foundation.

Why should you do house bolting?

:- During earthquake usually the house doesn't slide off rather the foundation that slides from the place.

:- When your house gets affected by earthquake there is a chance that the old bolts are weakened and not too strong for combating the next.

:- Earthquake affects your building in 3 different way.

:- Houses slide off foundation

:- Cripple walls buckle and collapsed

:- House lifts off foundation

Foundation bolt Use:-

:- The bolt selection is the important part for house bolting and there are 2 types of bolt generally used.

:- Expansion foundation bolts :- Epoxy-set foundation bolts

Expansion foundation bolts The less expensive bolting option and they are the basic bolts used for foundation bolting.

These bolting type needs a good concrete strength for better outcome.

These bolting type is mostly used for houses with newer foundation or if the foundation has a good concrete arrangement.

As per studies, the expansion foundation bolt can be used as long as it doesn't cause any crack in the concrete.

Epoxy-set foundation bolts These foundation bolting system is used in weaker houses to strengthen the concrete.

This bolting also prevents the uplift that is caused by earthquake.

Generally the uplift pulls the bolt upward out from the concrete base that eventually results in concrete sliding.

That's why the epoxy bolts are longer than expansion bolts which helps it to insert it to deeper in the concrete.

Some facts about House Bolting :-

Earthquake related failure happens mostly due to crippled foundation walls.

When the foundation wall start to cripple and collapse, the base concrete starts to slide from under the house due to the seismic movement.

It's always advised to brace all sides of house to counterfeit the seismic movement and prevent any damage to home.
