Goal line Offense The goal line offense we use at Harrison High School is a double tight-T formation. The reason we have decided to use this set, is that in the past we found it difficult in our jet offense to consistently get two yards or less on the goal line or on 3rd and 4th downs. These are the situations that win football games and we need to convert near 100% in these circumstances.

Advantages of the T formation 1. Balances the defense 2. Forces a standard 6-5 defense to cover every gap 3. Allows easy check with me plays for the quarterback 4. Forces the defense to cover the tackles and TE’s with inside or outside shade defenders, which allow quarterbacks a simple read. 5. Makes flat coverage difficult 6. Forces the defense to commit a defender to each gap 7. Use your most physical players (at Harrison we call the T formation hammer.) We call it Hammer because we want the offense to have the mentally of HAMMERING the opponent when it counts.

Offensive Line personnel Tight End – Regular Tight End or Defensive Ends Offensive Tackles – Regular Tackle – Ability to Drive Block Offensive Guard – Defensive Tackles – Must stalemate the 1 technique Center – Same as offense

Running Backs We use all different types of players as running back in our Hammer Offense. We have used our regular backs, linebackers, tight ends and defensive lineman. Any fast, tough and determined player will get a chance to play in this offensive set. Halfbacks – Halfbacks must be physical because they will make the critical block in most situations.

Running Backs They must be physical enough to handle and aggressive hard charging defensive end. If this player can catch the arrow it is and added bonus.

Fullback The fullback must be tough, strong or skillful enough to get one yard on his own. We have used many different types of players at this position. Defensive lineman, linebackers, and running backs. They must, however, be determined enough to get the tough yard.
