 A government agent, agency or commission that has the authority to tell a business what it may or may not do.

 Ofcom has wide-ranging powers across the television, radio, telecoms and postal sectors. It promotes competition and protecting the public from what might be considered harmful or offensive material.

 The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) is a non-governmental organization, funded by the film industry and responsible for the national classification and censorship of films within the United Kingdom.

 Pan European Game Information (PEGI) is a European video game content rating system established to help European consumers make informed decisions on buying computer games with logos on games' boxes.

 The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is a self-regulatory organization that assigns age and content ratings, enforces industry-adopted advertising guidelines, and ensures responsible online privacy principles for computer and video games in Canada and the United States.

 The Press Complaints Commission (PCC) is a voluntary regulatory body for British printed newspapers and magazines. It has no legal powers.

 The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the self-regulatory organization of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom. The ASA is a non-statutory organization and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation. However, its code of advertising practice broadly reflects legislation in many instances.

 The trade union is an organization of workers who have banded together to achieve common goals such as protecting the integrity of its trade, achieving higher pay, increasing the number of employees an employer hires, and better working conditions.

 Pact is the UK trade association representing and promoting the commercial interests of independent feature film, television, and digital children's and animation media companies.

 The industry has never needed an active and strong union as much as it does now.  The National Union of Journalists is the voice for journalists and journalism.  They improve the pay and conditions of our members and protect and promote media freedom, professionalism and ethical standards.

 The International Game Developers Association is the largest non-profit membership organization in the world serving all individuals who create video games. They work on collaborative projects and communities comprised of individuals from all fields of game development.

 The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association, has announced that it intends to change its name to the UK Interactive Entertainment Association. The decision was made by its membership today at the trade body’s Extraordinary General Meeting.

 British Interactive Media Company is the industry association representing the interactive media and digital content sector.  It supports individuals and organizations which deliver high quality, creative and innovative, interactive media solutions.

 A trade association, also known as an industry trade group, is an organization founded and funded by businesses that function in a specific industry. An industry trade association participates in public relations activities such as promotion, education, political contributions, lobbying and publishing, but its main focus is collaboration between companies, or standardization.
