FORMULA SAE ELECTRIC

CONCEPT OF THE COMPETITION To provide students the opportunity to enhance their engineering design and project management skills. The prototype car is to be evaluated for its potential as a production item. The vehicle will be inspected in a series of test to ensure it complies with the competition rules.

ENGINEERING DESIGN Engineering effort that went into the design. How engineering meets the intent of the market. Both in terms of vehicle performance and overall value.

DYNAMIC EVENT Acceleration Auto-cross Skid-pad Endurance

ACCELERATION Accelerating abilities from a standing start over a distance of 75 meters.

AUTOCROSS Car maneuverability and handling qualities The course combine all the performance features of acceleration, braking and cornering.

SKID-PAD Measure the car’s cornering ability on a flat surface while making a constant- radius turn. The course is in form of number 8, to demonstrate how lateral forces are absorbed.

ENDURANCE Prove of durability under long-term conditions (22km) Acceleration, speed, handling, dynamics, fuel efficiency and reliability

BASIC RULES ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS- VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY Conceived, designed, fabricated and maintained by the student team members. No help form professionals Professionals may not make design decisions or drawings Direct hands-on from students Perform all fabrication tasks whenever possible. GENERAL DESIGN REQUIREMENTS The vehicle must be open-wheeled and open-cockpit (a formula style body) with four (4) wheels that are not in a straight line. TECHNICAL REGULATIONS – ELECTRIC VEHICLES The maximum voltage permitted in the Formula SAE Electric is 300 VDC. Only electric motors are allowed. Any type of electrical motor is allowed. The number of motors is not limited. The maximum power of the battery must not exceed 80 kW.
